Thomas Brown, M.S., CCC-SLP is a speech therapist specializing in neurodiversity affirming speech therapy for children and adults of all ages.

In person in Ann Arbor, MI!
Located at at 3820 Packard St, #180
I hold advanced degrees in Speech-Language Pathology from accredited universities (Portland State University). Additionally, I am certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), demonstrating adherence to rigorous professional standards. I also maintain state licensure, meeting all regional regulatory requirements. Beyond formal qualifications, I engage in continuing education to stay current with the latest research and techniques in speech therapy. This commitment to ongoing learning ensures the most effective, evidence-based interventions to our clients.
I see anyone over the age of 7 in need of communication (speech & language) support.
Yes! Speech therapy can be done virtually in the state of Michigan.
Virtual speech therapy can be just as effective and engaging as in-person sessions. Sessions are tailored to each client’s interests, strengths, and needs, with interactive activities, visuals, games, and movement breaks built in. For children, caregiver collaboration is often part of the process to help support engagement and carryover at home. With the right setup and support, virtual sessions can be a flexible, fun, and meaningful way to make progress.
Sessions are generally scheduled for one hour of my time. Most sessions last between 40–50 minutes, with the remaining time used for note-taking, planning future sessions, or debriefing with the client or caregiver. I’m happy to be flexible—if you have specific scheduling needs, just let me know and I’ll do my best to accommodate you.
At this time, I do not bill insurance directly. I am considered an out-of-network provider. Many clients are still able to use their out-of-network benefits and may receive partial reimbursement for our sessions, depending on their plan. I’m happy to provide a superbill (an itemized receipt) that you can submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement.
Instead of taking insurance, I use a self-disclosed sliding scale model. Sliding scale services make it possible for individuals from various financial backgrounds to
access essential therapy, ensuring that everyone, regardless of their income, can receive the support they need. Please reach out if you would like to know more about pricing.
Sliding scale pay means there are four set fee options, and you choose the one that best fits your current financial situation. It’s offered on an honor system—no proof of income is required. This approach helps make services more accessible while trusting that you’ll select the rate that feels manageable and fair for you.
To use your out-of-network benefits for speech therapy, you can submit a superbill (an itemized receipt) directly to your insurance company. Here’s how:
Ask me for a superbill after your session(s)—it will include all the necessary details like diagnosis codes, service codes, and payment information.
Check with your insurance provider to confirm whether they reimburse for out-of-network speech therapy services. Ask what documentation is required and how to submit it.
Submit the superbill through your insurance company’s online portal, or by mail or fax depending on their process.
Wait for reimbursement—if approved, your insurance provider will reimburse you directly based on your plan’s coverage.
Because insurance plans vary, it’s always a good idea to call your provider first and ask about your out-of-network speech therapy benefits.
